Rising Above Park Campus Ribbon Cutting

BASE would like to congratulate Rising Above Ministries on the grand opening of their new Park Campus location. The ribbon cutting and open house was held on May 28, and was well attended by community supporters, City Council members, Mayor Bill Given, and MLA Wayne Drysdale.  In addition to providing expanded office and counselling space, the newly renovated building can accommodate up to 19 men  in their residential treatment program.

BASE was pleased to provide the engineering and architectural liaison for the renovations.  The building was the former Young Offenders Center that had been sitting vacant for several years. Rising Above Ministries and the City of Grande Prairie negotiated a lease agreement, and then hard work began.  There were a number of Building Code items that needed to be addressed, including installing a new water line and sprinkler system, installing new fire dampers in the mechanical system, providing additional electrical, updating door hardware, and providing handicap accessible washrooms.  BASE teamed up with Heather L. Johnston of PLACE Architect for the architectural support on this project.
