Beairsto & Associates Engineering Ltd. (BASE) is a proud Grande Prairie based firm that has been involved in Municipal Engineering, Building Design Engineering, and Legal Land Survey for over 50 years. Our growing client base necessitated the recent expansion of our services to include Oil & Gas Legal Survey, and the addition of an office in Fort St. John, British Columbia.

Since 1963 we have been 100% locally owned and operated maintaining a steadfast core Local Ownership Corporate Value; believing that our historic success comes from striving to serve our community in a way that only an informed, and invested, local provider can.

BASE proudly boasts an extensive in-house team of engineers, technologists, surveyors, and support staff, making it possible to oversee almost every aspect of our projects. Municipal, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering design, drafting, and contract management throughout the land development, design and construction phases of our projects are managed in house exclusively.

The types of projects and focus of our expertise lie in the following areas:

  • municipal feasibility, design and planning projects that include water, storm and sanitary systems
  • municipal rehabilitation and infrastructure re-design
  • land development and subdivision design
  • engineering design and construction for both urban and rural roadway systems

  • feasibility studies, design, drafting, specifications, project tendering, and contract administration for buildings, including new construction, renovation projects, and additions
  • architectural liaison and coordination with registered architects
  • structural engineering for a variety of systems and materials including wood frame, steel, concrete, masonry, pre-cast panels, SIP panels, and pre-engineered buildings
  • mechanical engineering including energy code compliant HVAC and plumbing systems for buildings
  • electrical engineering including energy code compliant lighting and power systems for buildings, and municipal distribution systems for new land developments
  • oil & gas pipeline and wellsite legal surveys

BASE is proud to be the long time workplace of over 50 dedicated local employees.

We have maintained a permit to practice in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) since 1969. We are comprised of an Engineering team of 17 engineering graduates, 10 of whom are registered as Professional Engineers through APEGA and several are also registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC). Construction Supervision and Engineering Inspection services are supported by a blended team of experienced professionals, technologists, and technicians.

The Legal Survey element of our organization is overseen by three Alberta Land Surveyor Professionals (A.L.S), and BASE has been a member in good standing with the Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association (ALSA) for over 45 years. Legal Field Survey work is conducted by 10 experienced Field Survey crews capable of a wide range of services ranging from high precision construction and roadwork surveys to remote oil & gas wellsite and pipeline surveys.
